Welcome to Parkend Primary School's Website

Hello and welcome to the website for Parkend Primary School, part of The Forest of Dean Community Schools Federation, linked with Yorkley Primary School, working together to make our community stronger.

Parkend Primary is a small school with BIG ideas — a popular and well-respected school with roughly 70 children on roll. Ofsted rated us ‘Good’ overall with two areas ‘Outstanding’, reflecting our commitment to high standards and the strong sense of care that underpins everything we do.

Set in the heart of the Forest of Dean, our children benefit from a rich outdoor learning environment, including our Forest Classroom, Trim Trail, PlayPod, and whole-school biking initiative, which encourage active learning and a love of the outdoors.

Our dedicated team of staff share a clear and ambitious vision: to provide a high-quality education for every child. Parents describe our school as warm, welcoming, and inclusive, and we are proud that standards continue to rise each year, with pupils leaving us as confident, well-prepared young citizens.

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you’ll make.  I warmly invite you to visit us  to experience our friendly atmosphere, meet our team, and see for yourself how children at Parkend Primary thrive and flourish.

Warm regards,
Mrs K. Burke
Executive Headteacher

Eco-Club have been busy preparing for the Big School's Bird Watch 2026!

Sadly, we discovered that squirrels had destroyed our bird feeders a few weeks ago so we spent some time reading up on better solutions.  We have now upgraded with new anti-squirrel feeders.  Thank you to the Rawlings family for donating another one - we now have double the feeding capacity and we hope to attract more birds to our school field!

Did you know that you can also sign up between 23-25th January for the Big Garden Bird Watch at home too - https://www.rspb.org.uk/whats-happening/big-garden-birdwatch?

Year 5 Dance Champions

Our Year 5 children took part in an exciting Dance Workshop at The Dean Academy, joining pupils from several local primary schools to learn a new routine and build their teamwork and coordination skills. After performing in a friendly competition, we are delighted to share that Parkend School were crowned GOLD winners. A wonderful achievement — well done Year 5, you did us proud!
