Welcome to Parkend Primary School's Website

Hello and welcome to the website for Parkend Primary School, part of The Forest of Dean Community Schools Federation, linked with Yorkley Primary School, working together to make our community stronger.

Parkend Primary is a small school with BIG ideas — a popular and well-respected school with roughly 70 children on roll. Ofsted rated us ‘Good’ overall with two areas ‘Outstanding’, reflecting our commitment to high standards and the strong sense of care that underpins everything we do.

Set in the heart of the Forest of Dean, our children benefit from a rich outdoor learning environment, including our Forest Classroom, Trim Trail, PlayPod, and whole-school biking initiative, which encourage active learning and a love of the outdoors.

Our dedicated team of staff share a clear and ambitious vision: to provide a high-quality education for every child. Parents describe our school as warm, welcoming, and inclusive, and we are proud that standards continue to rise each year, with pupils leaving us as confident, well-prepared young citizens.

Choosing the right school for your child is one of the most important decisions you’ll make.  I warmly invite you to visit us  to experience our friendly atmosphere, meet our team, and see for yourself how children at Parkend Primary thrive and flourish.

Warm regards,
Mrs K. Burke
Executive Headteacher

London Residential - Day 1 Highlights

Year 5 & 6 children from across our Federation are having a wonderful time on their London Residential.  After arriving at London yesterday, they enjoyed a full day exploring some of London’s iconic landmarks and visited Tate Modern, The National History Museum and enjoyed an evening meal at Pizza Express! It has been wonderful to see them so engaged and supporting one another across the two schools.

Sports Day Success

We held our annual Sports Day yesterday which proved to be a fantastic success. The rain clouds stayed away just long enough for everyone to enjoy a full day of activity, teamwork, and friendly competition. A huge congratulations goes to Yellow House, who were crowned this year’s champions with an impressive total of 141.

Four members of Wild Boar Class represented Parkend at a Mountain Biking event held at Wyedean School. Competing as part of a relay team, each rider had to complete two 500m laps. The team performed brilliantly, securing an impressive second place overall! Hazel was the fastest individual girl, while Jasper was third and Jasper second for the fastest individual boy.

Congratulations to all four riders - we are very proud of you!
