Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
At Parkend Primary School ALL class teachers are teachers of SEND and ALL pupils' needs are placed at the centre of their experiences. Class Teachers provide a rich and engaging curriculum that enables disadvantaged pupils, as well as their classmates, to thrive and reach their full potential.
We have high expectations for all pupils and we believe in challenging all pupils to achieve their full potential in both academic and non-academic activities regardless of background and gender. In the classroom, our teachers also ensure that the ablest pupils are set tasks that they will find challenging but will also inspire them. We are committed to ensuring our curriculum complies with the Equality Act 2010 and the Special Educational Needs and Disability Regulations 2014. Our inclusion statement emphasises the importance of providing an inclusive learning environment for all pupils including those with SEND. Additional information on this can be found on our Equality section of the website.
Parkend school encourages children to share their successes outside the school in, for example, sports and these are regularly acknowledged in assemblies and newsletters. Extra-curricular activities including out of hours clubs, music, arts and sports enable pupils to develop their individual talents.
If you have any concerns regarding any aspect of your child’s ability to learn in class, particularly regarding speech and language, delayed learning, social/emotional/mental health or physical needs, I am available to listen to your concerns and work with you to ensure the best outcome for your child. Please contact me on hwright@parkend.gloucs.sch.uk or contact the school office to make an appointment.
